http://cphwolves.gg Professional Sports Team Mon, 06 Jun 2016 18:38:20 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.4.4 Copenhagen Wolves cease operations http://cphwolves.gg/news/copenhagen-wolves-cease-operations/ Mon, 06 Jun 2016 18:26:07 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=604 It is with great sadness that I today announce the cease of all operations for Copenhagen Wolves with immediate effect.

It has been quite a ride since we started in 2009 on a little internet cafe in Copenhagen and it has been some of the greatest highs and hardest lows of my life. We set out with the best of intentions at a time where actually making a living off e-sport was for a very small select group of people. The first couple of events was founded out of our own pockets and was traveled to as way too many people in my parents way too small car. If you had told me back then how big Copenhagen Wolves would become one day, I would have laughed and told you that you were crazy.

We managed to create one of the most polarizing brands in Danish e-sport during the last few years but also one of the most controversial. To paint a picture of a fairy tale where everything was happiness would be very wrong, we definitely took our beatings and learned quite a few lessons the hardest way possible. I must state however that I also feel quite a sense of pride when considering all the amazingly talented people we helped foster and move up in the e-sport world.

With both owners of the company fully engaged in other projects, Diglife with Ninjas in Pyjamas and me personally with Astralis, this decision seems to be the only one that really makes sense. We would have loved to keep this great brand alive but with ownership so far removed from the daily grind we would never be able to provide our players, partners and fans the dedication they deserve.

Should there be someone out there willing and able to take over this project the right way, we would definitely love to hear from you as we still believe in the brand and the story of Copenhagen Wolves. Anyone interested in doing so, should feel free to contact me via the information given below.

Lastly, I want to extend a special thank you to every single player who ever wore the Copenhagen Wolves jersey and especially the partners who made it all possible.

Best wishes

]]> Two new faces in the CS:GO squad http://cphwolves.gg/news/two-new-faces-in-the-csgo-squad/ Mon, 23 May 2016 15:51:02 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=593 After revealing the departure of PECRY and HUNDEN a while ago the team has been looking to find two new members to complete the roster. Therefore we are exited today to announce two new players.

First we would like to introduce Valdemar Bjørn ”valde” Vangså, a talented player who recently was seen playing for Tricked esports. Secondly is Daniel ”mertz” Mertz who arrives from the Danish team Alpha.

Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander about the new players:

It was time for changes in Copenhagen Wolves and we believe we found the perfect two to fill out Percy and Hundens spots. We asked Hunden if he wanted to be our coach and IGL at the same time, but he rather wanted to play himself, which I understand. Snappi is our new IGL.

Our 2 new players will be Mertz and Valde which we have been playing with since Hunden and Percys departure, our chemistry is nice and we believe they got the firepower which we needed. I am sure we can archieve great things with this new lineup.

I want to thank both Hunden and Percy for their time in Copenhagen Wolves and I hope they will be happy with their new home.

With these acquisitions our current line-up is:

Lukas ”gla1ve” Rossander
Danni ”smf” Dyg
Marco ”Snappi” Pfeiffer
Valdemar Bjørn ”valde” Vangså
Daniel ”mertz” Mertz

]]> The CSGO wolfpack 2 man down http://cphwolves.gg/news/the-csgo-wolfpack-2-man-down/ Sun, 08 May 2016 17:58:09 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=579 Since signing the CS:GO squad early this year, we have had a long term plan to see what our lineup can do. There’s been a few setbacks, but the guys have kept an iron will and stayed together as a group throughout some real adversity.

However, we sadly did not see the results we wanted during the start of the spring, and we decided that a change is needed entering the summer. Therefore we are sad to announce that Martin ”PERCY” Wessel and Nicolai ”HUNDEN” Petersen will be leaving the Copenhagen Wolves CS:GO team with immediate effect. We wish both of them the best of luck, and thank them for all the time and dedication they have invested in this project.

This leaves the following lineup:

Lukas ”gla1ve” Rossander
Danni ”smf” Dyg
Marco ”Snappi” Pfeiffer

We are right now in an intense tryout period to find two new players to make our lineup even more competitive and ready for the summer. Stay tuned for announcements.

]]> Copenhagen Wolves acquires unu.AiN CS:GO http://cphwolves.gg/news/copenhagen-wolves-acquires-unu-ain-csgo/ Sun, 17 Jan 2016 20:16:18 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=563 After a fall that included a lot of changes within the Copenhagen Wolves CS:GO roster, we are happy to announce that unu.AiN will be joining us for the 2016 season.

unu.AiN consists the following 5 players:

Lukas ”gla1ve” Rossander
Nicolai ”HUNDEN” Petersen
Danni ”smf” Dyg
Marco ”Snappi” Pfeiffer
Martin ”percy” Wessel

Here is a statement from our General Manager, Henning Christiansson, regarding the new team:

Copenhagen Wolves’ main priority going into 2016 was to partner up with players we believe in, and that can make 2016 another exciting year for us.
Both Lukas and Nicolai have been with us since the fall, and we have had an ongoing dialogue about 2016. Therefore it was very exciting to see this roster finally completed, and ready for the upcoming challenges.

Nicolai ”HUNDEN” Petersen about the roster:

Copenhagen Wolves have always been the place to stay at in Denmark. We are happy to finally come to an agreement with Copenhagen Wolves for 2016.
Gla1ve and I wanted to get back together and we finally did it after 3 years, and once again in Copenhagen Wolves. 2016 will be hard for us, but qualifying for Assembly in Finland as a start is always good, and Copenhagen Games is coming up in the start of April.
We are going participate in a lot of online tournament like ESEA premier, and hopefully we will win some qualifiers to get to some of the bigger tournaments in 2016.

]]> Copenhagen Wolves EU CS lineup unveiled http://cphwolves.gg/news/copenhagen-wolves-eu-cs-lineup-unveiled/ Mon, 28 Dec 2015 21:20:19 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=537 First and foremost, Copenhagen Wolves would like to thank all the players who wore our colors during this turbulent year.

This offseason has probably been the most active in the history of League of Legends, with most teams changing entire or major part of their lineups, and even some LCS spots being sold. These things only show that esports is getting bigger, more competitive, and more serious.

However, a new year is around the corner, and therefore we are very happy to announce the lineup that will be representing us during the upcoming seasons in the EU CS. We have some familiar faces, but also a couple of new ones.

Jakob Lund Kristensen, CEO stated:

We are extremely happy to announce the signing of our former League of Legends Division and finally be able to set our sights on the 2016 season. We have had quite a turbulent fall, especially after our exit from the LCS
left both our management and our players feeling like we could have done a lot of things a lot better.

We have worked hard over the last months to put Copenhagen Wolves in a position to take the step back into the LCS. The spring of 2016 will be packed with surprises for you fans so stay around and find out more.

The five players who will be wearing the black and yellow proud are:

Kristoffer Albao ‘P1noy‘ Lund Pedersen
Søren ‘Soren‘ Holdt Frederiksen
Mike ‘Wickd‘ Petersen
Admir ‘trowen‘ Spahic
Risto ‘SirNukesAlot’ Luuri

Today we have to say goodbye to Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel due to him being bought out through the “Job Release Clause” in his contract. Rubino will now be representing Team Dignitas CS:GO.

Next up may be one of the shortest appearances in the history of Copenhagen Wolves. Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke was signed on a free transfer, only to be bought out through his “Job Release Clause” in his contract. k0nfig had no official matches and will also be joining Team Dignitas CS:GO.

We wish them both the best in the future.

Further news regarding the future of our CS:GO team will be announced soon.

]]> Copenhagen Wolves CS:GO one man down http://cphwolves.gg/news/copenhagen-wolves-csgo-one-man-down/ Wed, 30 Sep 2015 16:03:11 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=505 It is only a bit over 1 month ago we acquired our new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team. The team has been showing some great potential and especially Joakim “Jkaem” Mybostad performed very well.

Today we can announce that Jkaem will no longer be a part of the Copenhagen Wolves CS squad as the organization Gamers2 bought Jkaem out through the ‘Job Release Clause’ in his contract.

The CEO of Copenhagen Wolves, Jakob L. Kristensen, issued the following statement:

After a great performance at DreamHack London, our team left for DreamHack Stockholm and the Major qualifier in high spirits and with confidence that they would claim a spot. Sadly, Flipsid3 brought out their A-game and we were left disappointed of not achieving the goal we all had set our hearts and minds to.

We now must figure out how to reassert our efforts and focus on the future, though we are sad to announce that we will have to do so without Joakim “Jkaem” Myrbostad. When Gamers2 approached us about potentially picking up our player, it was clear that this was something that Joakim really wanted to do. We have been in discussions internally in our organization, with our team and with G2 and we believe we have found a solution that will satisfy all parties while allowing Joakim to chase his dream at the next major.

We wish to thank him for his brief time with us in the Wolves and we wish him nothing but the best in his future.

Stay tuned to our website and social media for the latest updates regarding our roster.

We are already looking for a new player to step in and fill out Jkaems shoes.

Best of luck in the future Joakim “Jkaem” Mybostad.

]]> Copenhagen Wolves acquires three LGB eSports players http://cphwolves.gg/news/copenhagen-wolves-acquires-three-lgb-esports-players/ Mon, 17 Aug 2015 17:51:29 +0000 http://cphwolves.gg/?p=465 The leading Danish eSport organization Copenhagen Wolves and LGB eSports hereby wish to announce the transfer of three players from LGB eSports. Both organizations have Diglife on the ownership side, which have facilitated the transfer of the players.
The following players has been released from their contracts with LGB to form the new lineup: Morten “zeves” Vollan, Ruben “Rubino” Villarroel and Joakim “jkaem” Myrbostad. These three players will form a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive lineup alongside newcomers Simon “twist” Elliasson and Erik “zende” Sundeqvist. All players have signed a longterm deal with the Danish organization.

Jakob Lund Kristensen, Founder and CEO of Copenhagen Wolves, has released the following statement:

“We are extremely excited to once again return to the roots of the Copenhagen Wolves, as we venture back into Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Since our last tenure, the game has seen an immense growth and we feel it is a natural and needed step for our company. Though our emphasis and priorities have always been on the development of Danish talents, we feel that this particular lineup is simply too talented, too hungry and too skilled to not become a part of our wolfpack. They share both the dedication and determination that we have been looking for and we have honoured this with a longterm deal that will provide them with the best possible circumstances to live up to their lofty potential.”

Hicham Chahine, Founder and CEO of Diglife, has released the following statement:

“As a group we are always looking at improving our electronic sports companies. With regards to this announcement we are excited about forming this new lineup in Copenhagen Wolves, and felt it was a natural step to transfer the LGB players to bring CS:GO back to Copenhagen Wolves. We will be actively searching for a new CS:GO lineup for LGB eSports and are excited about the future ahead for all our electronic sports organizations.”

The new Copenhagen Wolves CS:GO lineup will already be in action tonight, as they play the qualifier for DreamHack London starting at 21:00.
